Strip 32: The Rightful Queen

I have to wonder how obvious it was that Captain Tannin was formerly the Queen of the Blacknet. Perhaps the crown or her intense hatred of the Blacknet gave it away. Or perhaps not. When writing, it's always extremely important to check your perspective by imagining yourself as a reader (Does this make sense? Would I want to know more? Would I want to know less?), but one of the hardest parts about writing twists, even minor ones like this, is that it's very difficult to surprise yourself. At the end of the day, I'm more interested in where this character detail takes Captain Tannin, rather than the surprise of the reveal itself, so if I managed to catch anyone off guard, I'll just consider that a bonus.
