Strip 49: Shell Cracker

Now we know why nobody wanted to bring a shell cracker along. I wanted a sonic weapon that was huge and unwieldy, and originally I envisioned the shell cracker as just a very large gun, but that wasn’t particularly interesting or unique to the challenge of forcing a Moltec to open its shell, so when I was looking up references for modern-day sonic weaponry, I was very excited to find a truck with what looked like a shield array of weaponized speakers. It made sense that anyone trying to take on a Moltec would need as much protection as possible, so the shell cracker became an oversized shield, with the piston-like supports at the bottom for both stability and for transmitting further vibrations to the Moltec inside the shell.
