Strip 48: MANTRA
Those of you familiar with T.S. Eliot’s “The Waste Land” might recognize the Goddess’s mantra as the final line of the poem. It seemed fitting that we should end Part 1 of our comic the same way, although this is just as much a plot point as it is a literary allusion. I won’t spoil the meaning of her words, but feel free to look them up. They’re a very small piece of the puzzle, so you won’t ruin anything with a trip to Wikipedia.
So here we are. The end of Steel Salvation, Part 1. It’s hard to express how excited I am to be here. To look back at our year-long journey, our artistic progression, our developing story, and to then look ahead at all we’ve got planned, all the visual improvements we might make - it’s a tingly kind of feeling. We still have a lot of work to do before we can begin Part 2, though, and we’ll need a pretty lengthy hiatus. Our tentative plan is to launch Part 2 on June 1st, just in time for summer. This will give us plenty of time to hammer out the character concepts we need, put together an advertising campaign, update the website, create new cover art, and build up a decently sized buffer.
But don’t worry, we won’t leave you in the dark for two whole months. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for previews, behind-the-scenes features, and an upcoming project I’m working on with Dan Sharp at the Demon Archives. If I do my job right, this hiatus won’t feel much like a hiatus at all, so stick around, and we hope to see you in June for Steel Salvation, Part 2: Shadows in the Ash!
